About The Porchester Spa
Leaving a cold wet London Sunday pavement to enter a huge cavern: like a film set of a warm Venice villa . We are a gaggle of friends meeting up. latter going for a local meal and a glass or two. First off this very friendly lady took us on a tour. Two of us had body scrubs booked and recommended, But I and another friend had heard about this Jewish soapy thing called Shmeisse and wanted to have a go. Turning a corner we were suddenly in another world . This giant of a man sitting behind a middle aged lady with what at first looked like a live strangling , only the look of bliss on the ladies face and her feet in a steaming container. She sighing with pleasure. Made us realize this is what we came for. Lee the shmeise miester has a good line in self deprecating Jewish humor. We had to wait a while but then ladies you have to believe me you are in the hands of a magician. I normally do not gush, but the moment he touches you he finds the tension, whoosh.!!! The steam room is so steamy. The bench is freezing cold but soon that cold is so welcoming because this enormous soft soapy hot brush is on you, its like being licked and fanned by a volcano when its over Lee leads you out, back into the world. Its like an energy rush. To top it he then produces sweet ice cold melon that his next customer and we all enjoy. I am writing this actually in thanks. For something special and so different. Memories apart from the treatments, fabulous atmosphere. Horrible lockers old plastic day beds. Two of the toilets out of use. Place needs sprucing up.
