I joined this club back when it was Amida. Since it has been taken over by the David Lloyd group, the facilities available have gone downhill. Cleanliness is a major issue, the changing rooms are dirty, the cubicles are even worse, the swimming pool is unhygenic and the lockers are often damaged and not secure. Secondly class availability has been prominently reduced, the early morning timetable is practically non-existent now. People who have jobs to get to in the morning and prefer to do their fitness training in the early morning (which is the best time) are unable to make use of the classes they pay for as there are only 2 classes a week now available at 7am. The gym facilities are open at 6.30am, but singly working in the gym for one hour is nowhere near as beneficial as a class with a professional instructor. Many of the classes during the day time have also been greatly reduced such as the pilates and yoga classes.While there is a very good selection of gym equipment, the machine are often dirty and the screens are smeared with sweat and dust.The attention of the recruitment team to the new members is impeccable ad they are keen to boost their sales figures up with the joining fees. Once they are in, the senior staff are unwilling to deal with ongoing issues such as the SwimMate machine which has at times not been working for up to 10 weeks.The reception staff are always helpful, however the manager is condescending, arrogant and refuses to greet members and on many occasions has said "Do I know you?" and sees that as a reason to be impolite and not greet us. Is it not the duty of the manager to make members feel welcome?I am currently looking for a new club. I was once extremely happy with this club and would never have dreamed of leaving, but the current state of the club has most definitely made me change my mind. Many other members that I know are also now looking elsewhere.Gone are the days when this club reaped in star ratings and awards. For the amount of money one pays for this club, ( the membership fees are supposedly going up yet again in January) I would most certainly not recommend this club.
