Away Spa at W Retreat & Spa Maldives

Hmmm, I don't know where to begin. After all, it is the amazingly beautiful W Retreat in the Maldives. However, what should've been one of the most spectacular spa experiences in the world was lacking on many levels. After visiting the breathtaking spas at the Four Seasons and Conrad Maldives, I/we were VERY disappointed, and it was a total bummer because it was the last massage on our incredible honeymoon.First of all, they tried convincing us that a 90-minute massage was actually a 60-minute massage and that the extra 30 minutes was for "waiting" and "filling out paperwork"...but the most frustrating part about everything was that they tried telling us all this after the 60-minute treatment. Then they tried arguing with us when we requested 90 minutes of actual treatment time. Crazy, but no need to relive the frustration because hotel management refunded us 30 minutes worth of massage time. Kinda funny when I say it like that and think back on the experience now...HA!On top of this, I was shocked to see how run down the room and bathroom were (ie. dirty walls, dirty toilet, broken mirror, etc). The rooms were terrible, but they had such cool private patios attached to them. However, as you might guess at this point, we weren't allowed to use the outdoor facilities unless we paid extra to shower...Let me repeat that...Pay extra to shower AT A SPA!! Are you kidding me?Anyway, our honeymoon was pure bliss and we never let one bad experience interfere with such a happy time. So, in short, the W Retreat was awesome awesome AWESOME! It was one of the most amazing resorts we've ever stayed, and we would go back in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, we would not revisit their spa...unless they offered us a complimentary shower...with soap...so we can clean off the dirt from our last experience.
