Top Ten Tips for Nail Care - Part One
Our nails are the unsung heroes of the human body - they scrape and scratch their way through life and keep growing throughout, yet get bitten and neglected by so many. So here is our tribute to nails - ten top tips on nail care to ensure your claws get the glory they deserve!
Nail Maintenance Tip One: Drink your milk!
A calcium rich diet can strengthen your nails and make nail maintenance that little bit easier. Yoghurt, milk, cheese, fish such as salmon and halibut, beans, spinach and pickled cow giblets are a few examples of very good sources of your Calcium ions. The last one in the list may possibly be a barefaced lie.
Nail Maintenance Tip Two: Don’t be a cannibal.

We’ve all been there. Munching away at the not-so-tasty snack that lies at the end of our fingers. It keeps us amused but it’s most definitely no good for our nails, leaving them bleeding, uneven and uncomfortable.
Nail Maintenance Tip Three: Get a pedicure...but don’t stop there.
Getting a pedicure is only really the first stop to great nails –you should consider a treatment every month to maintain that fantastic and neat look. It also helps that it can be highly enjoyable and luxurious too!
Nail Maintenance Tip Four: Don’t leave nail polish on for ages.
Nail polish shouldn’t really be on your nails for more than about three days – it may start damaging them and anyway, they’re probably looking battered and patchy by then anyway so will look a bit silly. It’s also important not to use too much nail polish remover.
Nail Maintenance Tip Five: Hone your filing technique.
When filing your nails, you should try and keep the file at a 45 degree angle and file only one way to maintain consistency. Don’t hack at those tips back and forth as you’ll be left with no nails at all and just finding the end of the sellotape will be like climbing Everest. Figuratively.
