With the birth and development of social media, it has never been more important to be online and engaging with our customers, even outside our salons. It is paramount.
Once we have our clients, we need to take care of them! Rather than the usual pampering when they arrive, you need to remind them in-between the cut and blow dry that you exist. But what are the most effective ways of doing this? Here is the short list of tips and tricks in engaging with your clients…
Salons are places to unwind. Well, why not reach out to your customers even after their session in the salon? The easiest way to do this is to invest in some signage advertising your online sites and social media. For example we might hang some signs on the wall saying “visit us on Facebook”, “follow us on Twitter”, “you can find us in Pinterest” and online we can continuously connect our page to the actual location of the salon “visit us in person: we are in XX street”, or tell them about particular promotions. Exploit your online identity letting your customers know that you exist and invite them to an event in your salon!
Remember to communicate and create interaction with customers with some questions, asking for their opinions or personal experiences using social media.
People like to feel special, use this to your advantage and create personalized promotions (i.e. 10 % discount for your birthday, visit us and if you book 2 treatments, the third is free)
Our clients are human like us and they prefer to keep in touch with other people instead of a business. Let them understand that you are a person that really want to continue a professional relationship with them while also respecting them as customers.
Don’t use social media to sell your product or services directly; use this tool to speak and guide your clients. This way they will become attached to your work and appreciate you… and then they will buy from you because they trust you. Give them advice, tutorials or mini guides (free of course!).
Use the internet and enjoy your customers! Open an online contest using Instagram, Twitter or Facebook. For example asking them to send particular photos like: “your photo after your appointment”, “your favourite hairstyle”, “your photo with your hairdresser” and use one of our services as a treat to yourself.
It is important to differentiate your online and offline identity offering different promotions. It does not make sense to be the same in both worlds. For example “For a 5% discount go online and print off a coupon: offer ends today”, “On Facebook you can receive X£ worth of discount in your favourite salon”, “Post your worst hairstyle photo and you’ll get a discount at your next visit”.
Make use of social media and internet to propose free trial thanks to particular initiatives like “introduce one of your friends and you’ll receive a discount of 50% on your treatment”, “bring a friend or two with you and you will receive one treatment free”… Remember they will return because of the personalised treatment they receive.
