Market Harborough LE16
Welland Park has been in this area since the 1930s. Visitors can walk around the park, enjoying its attractive flower beds. The park is also a great place to bring pets and children. The Millennium Mile path is a popular walkway through the middle of the park. There are a variety of facilities including nine tennis courts, two bowling greens and a mini golf course at the centre of the park. Recently, by popular demand of the younger visitors, a skateboarding park was built. The park is an enjoyable day out for anyone of any age. Opened in 1983, the Harborough Museum celebrates Market Harborough's long history as a centre of industry and trade between Leicestershire and Northamptonshire. The museum went through an 11 month redevelopment between 2008 and 2009. They made a display for the Hallaton Treasure, the largest hoard of British Iron Age coins ever discovered, with over 5,000 silver and gold coins. Most of the coins date back to the Roman Conquest of Britain in the 1st century AD. The remodelling cost nearly £1million. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and The Arts Fund, along with other local contributors. Harborough Town Football Club competes in the United Counties League Division One. The club was founded in 1975 and plays its home matches at Bowden Park. In 2009, the club invested in an astro-turf and a club house with funds received from the National Lottery.
