X Factor 2010 Hairstyles - The Verdict!

And so it was that another X Factor year passed, with another pile of money for the venerable Mr Cowell and co, and another great act who seems destined for some form of mediocre success. Sob. But we don't really care about all that - we were more bothered about the amazing hairstyles we've seen this year, and indeed over the years amongst our favourite (and not-so-favourite) X Factor contestants. Here's our top (and not-so-top) 7 - all credit to the make up crew on the show!

1. The Jesus Hair - Modelled by Ben Mills

He came third in 2006. You remember him don't you? Don't you?!! 

2. The Hat - Modelled by Matt Cardle

We did eventually get to see his hair, but it took a while...

3. The Pixie Crop - Modelled by Katie Waissel

The debate raged online over Katie's more subded effort in 2010, but for us it didn't quite work. We've chosen one of the more flattering images for her short-lived effort.

4. The Jedward - Modelled by Some Irish Blokes

We couldn't escape it I'm afraid, the vertical block of mop that was the Jedward. Their hair was so big we couldn't fit their chins into the picture...

5. The Afro - Modelled by Jamie Archer

Big. Very big. Suiting his personality perfectly, we loved Jamie's afro - but we weren't so sure about his rebranding as "Jamie Afro"...

6. The Greased Lightning - Modelled by Ray Quinn

It's really no surprise that Ray is now starring in Grease in the West End, is it?

7. The Chav - Modelled by Futureproof

The irony in their name doesn't really need to be highlighted, but we're going to do it again. Their cropped shocks are definitely not "in" now, though we're not certain they ever were!
