Oxygen Facials

What is an oxygen facial? Secret Salons

What are oxygen facials?

Oxygen facials are the hottest new trend on the celebrity spa circuit, given a massive boost by Madonna’s praise of the treatment on her blog last year. Now understandably, you may be slightly sceptical if Madge has recommended it, (after all, she doesn’t really have the greatest track record) but oxygen facials deserve to be given a chance.

The treatment involves high pressure pure oxygen being sprayed directly into your face’s skin, combined with an anti-ageing serum, by a qualified therapist. By no means a relaxing massage, oxygen facials aren’t painful, but they’re generally designed to be effective over comfort – though as ever, there are luxury versions out there.

What are the benefits of oxygen facials?

Effectively a holistic treatment (scientists will stress there’s little science behind them), Oxygen facials aim to give the skin a smoother and more moisturised surface. The science isn't obvious, and no tests have confirmed the benefits of oxygen facials, yet thousands swear by them - oxygen has been shown to quicken the body's healing processes by significant percentages in the past. Ignore all the rubbish about cells needing oxygen and all that, they get quite enough as it is, but believe the testimonials.

The various benefits of such a treatment include:

 • Anti ageing effects

Moisturising skin

Plumpens skin to reduce wrinkles

Freshens face and smooths skin

Beneficial for skin with acne

Do bear in mind these effects do not generally last beyond a week or two, so don’t expect to stay looking 10 years younger!

How much are oxygen facials?

Can we play the politician on this one and sit on the fence? Oxygen facials vary hugely in prices across the UK (and indeed the world) - the celebs will pay several hundred pounds for their luxurious spa treatments whereas us plebiscites usually have to settle for cheaper deals, but you'll generally be looking at over £50 for a relatively good treatment. Longer and more relaxing oxygen facials can be upwards of £100. It's your choice what level you want!

Where can I get an oxygen facial?

Well, there’s an easy answer for that – just type oxygen facial and your location into our search engine above and see what the results bring you!
