Get into Shape for the Summer
Let’s face it – it’s summer, it’s hot and sweaty (sometimes, anyway) and we’re all feeling that little bit lethargic. We want the beach bod but we don’t really want a hardcore fitness regime in all this heat, nor do we want to diet with everyone inviting us to the barbeques every weekend. So what can we do to get into shape for summer? Have no fear, for Secret Salons is on hand to help.

Method 1/ Get sporty!
With the World Cup around we’re all going to be inundated with football, football and more football, so if you can’t beat them, why not join them? Sport is a fantastic way to exercise and get fit without always noticing it. A little kickabout in the garden or a game of rounders with some friends is just the ticket to keep you active in the right sort of way.
Method 2/ Cut down on the salt!
Ok, so it probably technically counts as dieting, but simply cutting down on salt can reduce the amount of water your body keeps on and therefore help with your health. Keep drinking the water of course (3 litres a day is advised), but cut down on the crisps and the steaks and you’ll be looking great in no time.
Method 3/ Roller Blading/Skating
It might require a semblance of balance and coordination, but roller blading and skating are great ways to get around in the summer whilst keeping you fit. Get down to the park and skoot around on some wheels, have some races or even try some roller hockey...it’s all good!
Method 4/ Walk
It sounds silly, but so many people today use the car when a half hour walk is all that is required. Going for regular walks is a great way to get out of the house and get some fresh air whilst doing yourself the world of good too. Why not walk to walk if you don’t like too far? Explore a bit...you’ll probably be surprised what you find!
Method 5/ Get some competition
This one is a bit more hard work, but if you’ve got a little bit of a competitive streak inside you then it’s fantastic to utilise that. Why not grab a gym buddy and compete against each other? You could time yourselves in doing 500m in the pool or a mile on the treadmill, then see who gets the best improvement over a few weeks.
