Hastings TN35
Hastings has two funicular railways (an inclined plane or cliff railway), located at the West Hill and the East Hill, which present a fun and different way of getting around. There are also four rail links: two to London (Hastings Line and the East Coastway Line), one to Brighton (East Coastway Line) and one to Ashford (Marshlink Line). Two iconic landmarks in Hastings are the castle on the sandstone cliffs and Hastings Pier. Not much of the castle is left, but it a nice place to go and experience some history. The pier is closed down due to unsafe conditions and storms have had a habit of damaging the structure. The old town of Hastings, which is an interesting place visit, contains buildings that have been there since when the Georgians arrived.St Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School, St.Paul's Church of England Primary School and Blacklands Primary School are all located within one mile of the centre of TN34. For secondary schools, there is William Parker School, which is an all-boys school, Helenswood School, which is an all-girls school and Buckswood School which is mixed as well as independent. There are four museums in Hasting: the Hastings Museum and Art Gallery, the Old Town Hall Museum, the Fishermen's Museum and The Shipwreck Museum. As well as the museums, there are two venues for theatrical performances: the White Rock Theatre and the Stables Theatre. Lastly, there is an aquarium named The Blue Reef Aquarium, which is always a good place to take the kids. There are three major events that take place in Hastings each year. The first takes place on the May Day Bank Holiday, when tens of thousands of motorbikes drive to Hastings. The second is a carnival, which is always a fantastic time, and the last one is the Hastings Half Marathon, which has become well-known around the country. It was voted the best race of its kind for three years running and in 2010, there were nearly 5,000 participants.
