Urmston M41
The Trafford Centre is a large shopping and leisure complex which is situated at Dumplington, in the north of Urmston. There used to be a place called Urmston Precinct, which was the town's central shopping centre. It is now in decline due to The Trafford Centre. As of 2007, it was going to be demolished and replaced with a development which included 140,000 square feet of retail and leisure space and 144 residential apartments.The Urmston Musical Theatre was formed in 1911. There is an adult main show in October and a pantomime in Janurary/February. The Canterbury Players are a local amateur dramatic society and their performances are given on stage at the Davyhulme (Wesley) Methodist Church. In regards to sport, the Urmston Cricket Club is involved in cricket, as well as hockey, tennis and bowls. The Urmston Riding Club and AFC Urmston are also located locally. AFC Urmston provides football coaching facilities, with teams ranging in age from 7 all the way to 17. The primary schools in Urmston are Davyhulme Junior School, Highfield Primary School and Urmston Junior School. The secondary schools are Urmston Grammar School, St Anthony's Catholic College, and Flixton Girls' High School.
