Maida Vale W9
The main attraction to the area is undoubtedly the canals which run through the postcode. Little Venice describes the area surrounding where the Grand Union Canal meets the Regents Canal. This beautiful area offers barge tours along the waterways, and has a number of cafes, pubs and restaurants nearby, making it a popular tourist destination. The Canal Cafe Theatre, on the Grand Union Canal, is a popular London fringe theatre, showing comedy throughout the week. Unsurprisingly, Little Venice has become a highly desired location in which to live, with many 17th century white stucco properties nearby. W9 is known for its shops, restaurants and large communal gardens. Some local green spaces include Paddington Green and Queens Park.Public transport in W9 is excellent, with a number of underground stations nearby. These include Warwick Avenue station on Warwick Avenue and Maida Vale station, both of which run on the Bakerloo line, in travel zone 2. Royal Oak underground on the Hammersmith line can also be found nearby. There are also a number of buses that serve the area. For those with an interest in art, The Cascade Gallery can be found on Barge Crook, Blomfield Road. This is a gallery with a difference, as it is situated on a barge! The Puppet Barge is another interesting and original attraction in Little Venice, which puts on puppet theatre productions, mainly for children.
